Ready

Waiting for a photo

Choose one JPEG, PNG, or HEIC. The file stays in this browser tab.

Your photo bytes are processed locally. If GPS is found, only coordinates are used to load the optional map preview.

What actually happens

A clean copy, not a promise.

The tool reads the file structure, removes the GPS directory without recompressing the image, then scans the result again before the download appears.

01

Read the location in your browser

JPEG is checked for Exif GPS plus standard and extended XMP GPS. PNG Exif and HEIC Exif, XMP, and Apple ISO 6709 fields are inspected locally. The selected file is never sent to our server.

02

Remove only what you choose

Location-only mode removes the GPS pointer and its coordinate values while preserving camera and capture-time fields when present.

03

Verify before download

The new bytes are scanned a second time. The download stays locked unless the GPS directory is gone.

Know the limits

Sharing is not the same as cleaning.

Email attachments, cloud drives, and WhatsApp sent “as a file” can retain GPS. Instagram may remove location on upload, but that is not a reliable privacy workflow. This page removes the source field from a new copy before you share it.

Tested failure case

The field has to be empty.

A JPEG fixture carrying latitude and longitude was cleaned in location-only mode, then passed through the same parser again. The camera make and capture time remained; the GPS pointer did not.

Verification capture

Before: 4 GPS fields.
After: none.

If the re-scan finds even one GPS directory, the site refuses to create a download.

Questions, answered

Before you share.

Does this upload my photo?

No. File reading, GPS removal, and verification happen in your browser. We do not receive, store, or log your photo.

Can I remove a geotag from a photo without deleting everything else?

Yes. “Location only” removes the GPS directory while keeping camera and capture-time metadata when it exists. Choose “Strip all EXIF” only when you want the whole EXIF block removed.

How do I remove location from a photo on Windows?

Windows offers Properties → Details → Remove Properties and Personal Information. It works one file at a time and may not remove every metadata structure, so re-check the result before sharing.

What about iPhone’s “Location” sharing switch?

Turning off Location in iPhone Share Options affects that share. It does not change the original in Photos. This tool makes a separate file with the GPS data removed.

Does this stop reverse image search or hide faces?

No. It removes metadata only. It does not blur pixels, hide landmarks, remove reflections, or prevent reverse image search.

Does it remove GPS stored only in JPEG XMP?

Yes. Both standard and extended Adobe XMP packets are scanned. GPS values are cleared in place, the image data is not recompressed, and the result must pass the same second scan before download.

Can I remove GPS from an iPhone HEIC photo?

Yes. The tool checks the HEIC container’s Exif GPS directory, XMP GPS properties, and Apple ISO 6709 location field without converting the image to JPEG. It removes every detected location source and scans the HEIC result again before download.
